Obituary

Norman Francis Sevcik was born December 31, 1946, at home on his parents farm in Wheatland Township, Rice County, Minnesota, to Myles and Bessie (Cervenka) Sevcik. He was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. He attended I.C. School and graduated from New Prague High School in 1964. He served in the National Guard and in 1966 began working for Despatch Industries in Lakeville. He married Karen Malecha in 1969 and together they had two children, Lisa and Scott. They later divorced. Norman married Carmen Fossum on September 30, 1983, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, and together they had a son, Jeremy. They moved to their home in Webster Township in 1992. In 2003 Norman retired from Despatch and began working for Northfield Lines where he drove school bus and motorcoach until his health failed. He was a charter member and past vice president of the Northland Case Collectors and a member of Chapter #15 State IH Organization. He was a past member of the Lonsdale American Legion, the Lonsdale Jaycees, and in high school he was active in FFA. He enjoyed collecting Case and International Harvest tractors, going to auctions, spending time doing anything outdoors, and taking his family to weekend farm shows. He was honest, strong, determined and a good problem solver. His greatest joy came from his family and he loved them and spending time with them.
