History of Our Club 2000-03
The following information was taken from
facts compiled for the Rice County Steam & Gas Engines, Inc. Club by Mr. Dean
Britton. Edits were made, but the overall content was not changed. Thank you
Dean from all the current and future club members for all your hard work and
devotion to the club. Without Dean's record-keeping, this writing would not be
possible.
2000
The club held ifs first annual flea market/swap meet on Memorial Day weekend.
A consignment auction and Barta Pedal Tractor Pull were also held. There were
192 tractor exhibits. Beautiful weather made for a very successful show.
The raffle tractor was a restored Allis Chalmers Model C, with most of
the restoration by Sam Sperry of Webster Township, and help from several club
members.
New features at the
show were the model airplane club exhibit and selection of a Miss Steamer to
represent our club at parades and other events. The first Queen was Heidi Barta,
daughter of club members Tracy and Luann Barta. The princess was Heather Duban,
daughter of club members Wally and Linda.
We also initiated successful fundraising meals in Northfield and Faribault.
